Our Process

How We Vet Distributors

Every entry in the Avetlist directory is evaluated against 15+ wholesale signals before it earns a quality score. Here is what we look for — and what we filter out.

Why vetting matters

Not every company that calls itself a "wholesale distributor" is actually useful to an Amazon, Walmart, or eBay seller. The internet is full of retailers masquerading as wholesalers, liquidators selling customer returns, and direct-to-consumer brands with no B2B infrastructure.

Applying to the wrong type of supplier wastes time, produces invoices Amazon won't accept for ungating, and can damage your seller account if the source isn't recognized as legitimate.

Avetlist only includes companies with genuine B2B wholesale infrastructure — dedicated dealer portals, wholesale-specific application processes, and signals consistent with authorized distributor status.

What we look for

Dedicated wholesale infrastructure

Does the company have a separate dealer or wholesale portal — not just a retail website with a 'buy in bulk' option? Legitimate distributors maintain dedicated B2B systems for account applications, wholesale pricing, and order management.

Authorized distributor language

Does the company explicitly identify as an authorized distributor for the brands it carries? Authorized distributors have direct contractual relationships with brands — which is what Amazon and other marketplaces require for ungating and brand approval.

Application accessibility

Can a legitimate online reseller apply for a wholesale account? Some distributors require physical storefronts, professional licenses, or minimum purchase volumes that make them impractical for marketplace sellers. We flag and score these factors.

Marketplace compatibility signals

Does the distributor's structure support Amazon FBA, Walmart Marketplace, or eBay resellers? We look for signals like invoice quality, MAP policy language, brand authorization indicators, and whether the company has restrictions on online marketplace reselling.

Business legitimacy

Is this a real, operating business with verifiable contact information, a working website, and consistent business signals? We filter out inactive websites, social media profiles masquerading as businesses, and companies with no verifiable business presence.

What we filter out

Retailers

Companies that buy from distributors and resell to consumers — not actual distributors.

Liquidators

Suppliers selling overstock, customer returns, or closeout pallets. Invoices from liquidators are not accepted for Amazon ungating.

Direct-to-consumer brands

Brands that sell only to end consumers with no wholesale program for resellers.

Brick-and-mortar only

Distributors that require a physical retail storefront and do not accept online sellers.

Professional license required

Suppliers that require cosmetology, HVAC, contractor, or other professional licenses inaccessible to general resellers.

MLM and direct sales

Multi-level marketing companies and individual product consultants — not legitimate wholesale distributors.

What the quality scores mean

Every distributor in the Avetlist directory receives a quality score between 40 and 100. The score reflects the strength of wholesale signals found on their public website and business presence — not a guarantee of approval.

90 – 100

Highest confidence

Dedicated dealer portal confirmed, explicit authorized distributor language, strong FBA compatibility signals, accessible application process. Apply to these first.

80 – 89

High confidence

Strong wholesale infrastructure with most signals confirmed. Minor gaps in documentation or application clarity. Excellent candidates.

70 – 79

Good confidence

Solid wholesale signals with some areas requiring direct verification. Worth applying after higher-scored entries.

60 – 69

Moderate confidence

Meets minimum wholesale thresholds but with thinner signal coverage. Verify directly before prioritizing ungating applications.

40 – 59

Supplementary entries (free)

Legitimate businesses with wholesale presence but less verifiable signal strength. Included free with every order as bonus opportunities.

Data freshness

The Avetlist directory was compiled and verified in April 2026. Distributor websites, application requirements, and wholesale policies change over time — we recommend verifying current requirements directly on each distributor's website before applying.

If you find an entry with an inactive website or significantly changed business status, email support@avetlist.com. Valid reports are used to maintain data quality across the directory.
