Key Things to Know

EIN and Resale Certificate must match your legal business name exactly. If you are opening a wholesale account for a convenience store, boutique, or niche online shop, your resale certificate must reflect the product categories you intend to source.

Domain email is non-negotiable. Many distributors automatically filter out Gmail and Yahoo addresses to screen out casual buyers.

Business address — some distributors verify your address via Google Maps. Commercial mailbox services work for many suppliers but strict tier-1 distributors may flag them. Know this before applying.

For Amazon FBA Sellers

If you plan to use distributor invoices for Amazon brand ungating, your invoices must show:

• Your exact registered business name and address
• Distributor's official name, address, and contact details
• 10 or more units of the specific product
• Invoice dated within 180 days of your ungating submission
• Clear product identifiers — name, brand, or UPC

Before placing your first order ask the sales rep: "Do your invoices regularly clear Amazon's supply chain verification?"

Reputable distributors who work with Amazon sellers will know exactly what you mean.

Lead with e-commerce retailer identity. Do not say you sell only on Amazon or eBay. Say you are an online retailer or e-commerce business. Many distributors have legacy policies against marketplace-only sellers but approve independent online retailers without hesitation.

Place a small opening order first. Before committing large capital, place a minimum order to verify shipping speed, product quality, and invoice format. Only scale after confirming everything meets your requirements.
